Is life worth living?

“The spring brings leaf to a plant and autumn sheds leaves of a plant” similarly a birth gives us a life and death takes away the life. But, is life worth living. Many abstracts and many philosophies may have given their theory of life. Life is a realm of work, thoughts, action and learning, you just need to flow with the ups and down of life and so on. The theories never end and will not end also new theories will keep on adding and life will keep on moving.

But, “Is life worth living?”

The question varies from person to person perspective. Some will say life is so Romanizing, some will say it’s horrible, yet some will say it’s a beautiful journey, while some will reveal a sad path of attainment but the question remains the same “is life worth living?”

Long ago, I heard the stories when my grandmother used to tell me the secret mantras used by kings to expand their kingdoms, the struggle farmers did face, the story of two brothers and greed. Many stories were her collection and she threw out one every day. I remember a story she told me about two brothers Prithvi and Sahu.

The two brothers though born of same mother were living different lives. Prithvi was rich and content while Sahu was poor and needy. Prithvi had a large farm and he employed tenants to work for him while sahu had a small farm where he worked himself. The days passed by lives of both Prithvi and Sahu went smooth. Prithvi married and had now a son. While sahu had a daughter and with time they grew up. Sahu was always smiling and satisfied, he believed what has been given to him is god’s will and God will provide his needs at time he decides. Prithvi despite having lots had cunningness in nature. The time slowly moved and the condition changed. Prithvi met with an accident and he was unable to work, the lands slip away slowly from his hand while Sahu with hard work made up some good fortunes and build up his stature. Prithvi jealous of his brother was becoming poor and poor and ultimately he lost all his land in hands for making up life worth to live.

This story was just about how one makes his life worth. You might be worthy at once but this worthiness will not last long. One day, the tables will turn around but if one keeps working and making up a worthy life with labor and hard work it will pay off with a life worth living.

So, according to me the question “is life worth living?” the answer is no, the life isn’t worth living if it’s not labored and constructed with efforts. The life isn’t worthy if one doesn’t feel contented and satisfied with what one have. Life is worthy when one smiles in adverse condition for he knows where wrong he went. Life is worthy for who we are rather than for being who we aren’t or whom we wish to become? Life is worthy for us as we are worthy for our self.

 So, the question “is life worth living” has the answer that yes, the life is worth living until one persists to be oneself.
